Strength training is often overlooked by runners or just thrown into a plan as a “cross-training day”. Strength training can be a great asset into becoming a faster and stronger runner. In this strength foundations workshop you will actually learn about what muscles you need to work and more importantly “WHY” you are doing these exercises. This is a workshop is in depth look into strength training with equal parts education and internalization of the specific movements that will help your running experience.

Marcus graduated from Gonzaga College High School (c/o ‘97) then received a B.S. in Business from Hampton University. His passion for fitness lead him to open a gym in his neighborhood, Crossfit Petworth. He has trained everyone from professional athletes to senior citizens on the fundamentals of olympic lifting, functional fitness, mobility, and powerlifting. Marcus has partnered with the Mayor's Office, US Powerlifting Association, DC Council members, Crossfit Inc, the NFL Player’s Association, and local businesses to grow the gym’s profile in the Washington, DC fitness community.
Marcus is also the Head Strength & Conditioning coach of Gonzaga College High School where he works on the athletic development of students in 13 different sports. Above all that he is a dedicated husband and father of twin daughters.
