Plogging the Trail Information
"Plogging" is a combination of jogging with picking up litter—merging the Swedish verbs plocka upp (pick up) and jogga (jog) gives the new Swedish verb plogga, from which the word plogging derives). It started as an organized activity in Sweden around 2016 and spread to other countries in 2018, following increased concern about plastic pollution.
As with each of the previous years, Juneteenth Marathon will provide all plogging equipment (trash pickers, trash bags & nylon/roofing gloves) as well as non-alcoholic refreshments courtesy of Athletic Brewing. Juneteenth Marathon will also provide each run club $100 to cover any pre- and/or post-plogging refreshments the run club wishes to provide for attending/participating members. However, for this year’s iteration of “Plogging the Trails”, we’ll be ‘raising the stakes’ so to speak and introducing something new by incorporating a point-based competition to the mix. In a nutshell, each participating run club will receive points based on three different components of their plogging event:
· Plogging Participation - 1 POINT awarded for each plogging participant in attendance· Trash Collected - 2 POINTS awarded for each trash bag filled or large item collected
· Trail Covered – 3 POINTS awarded for each 0.1mi of trail covered

DRC Cherry Blossom POP-UP
OVERVIEW
District Running Collective is taking over Commonwealth DC for a 5-day pop-up experience to launch OUTSIDE, a limited capsule collection that celebrates the intersection of movement, culture, and streetwear. Dropping in tandem with Cherry Blossom 10-Miler Weekend, this collection and activation mark a first-of-its-kind collaboration between two DC-born institutions rooted in community.
Set inside Commonwealth’s U Street storefront—a minimalist, gallery-like space known for housing some of the most influential streetwear and fashion brands—DRC will reimagine the space through its own lens. The pop-up will serve as both retail hub and cultural space, blending apparel, music, and events throughout the week.
The capsule includes a forest camo heavyweight tee and matching bucket hat, featuring a co-branded street-marking graphic that nods to DC’s sidewalks, run routes, and creative pulse. Limited quantities will be available throughout the week, while supplies last.
In addition to the retail experience, the pop-up will host a series of community-driven events, including our signature Wednesday Night Run, an All-Crew Shakeout on Saturday, and post-race celebrations on Sunday.
